Point Lookout

Point Lookout is the colorful centre of Straddie. The main road runs the length of the township and Point Lookout itself is actually a series of beaches and headlands that can be easily explored by foot.

Walking is the way of life at the Point and there is always something to explore. There are opportunities to enjoy a cappuccino or a cold beverage in one of the relaxed outdoor cafes or eateries. Everyday items are available from the island's butcher, bakery, chemist, newsagent and convenience stores.
Beach walking on Frenchman's beach Many simply enjoy the pleasures of walking the four kilometres of beach between Frenchmans Beach and Adder Rock. The fine, white sand of the beaches is punctuated by rocky outcrops and headlands, some with tidal rockpools.

From June to November the headlands become ideal vantage spots to view the annual migration of the humpback whales. Whale watchers soon discover that the Headlands walk is a must.
The Point Lookout Surf Lifesaving Club patrols Main Beach daily and Cylinder Beach every weekend from late September to April. Cylinder Beach is also patrolled every school holiday during the week.
