Four Wheel Drives on Straddie

Four Wheel driving has long been a popular way to explore the beauty of North Stradbroke Island.

To ensure that Straddie stays as beautiful as it is now the Redland Shire Council has introduced 4WD beach access permits. All revenue raised from these permits goes into the re-vegetation of sand-dunes, maintenance of bush tracks and the general protection of North Stradbroke Island beaches.

Fishing on Main beach

Beach access permits are available from Redlands Tourism at 152 Shore Street West in Cleveland Phone: (07) 3821 0057, the Stradbroke Visitors Information Centre at Dunwich Phone: (07) 3409 9555, and after hours at the Thankful Rest or Amity Point camping grounds.

Avoid driving on the beaches within two hours of high tide and where possible drive on the section of beach between the low and high tide water marks.
